Singapore Hawker Feast 2015 - Affordable Hawker Food In The Heart Of Town

Singaporeans just love their hawker food.

The existence of itinerant vendors of wares, fruits, cakes, vegetables, carrying baskets loaded with rice, vermicelli, cakes, jellies, and condiments started as early as settlements were found on this little island. Eventually this evolved to the first hawker centres built in 1971 as part of the government’s street hawkers resettlement program. Many of the well-loved mobile food stalls were relocated into neighborhood housing communities as part of Singapore’s unique culture.
