Marina Bay Sands Shines Golden

Marina Bay Sands
South, Singapore
May 2014

On a hot, hot day this week, the evening sky was awash with colours of pink, purple and gold.

As the hustle of the day slowly settles into the more muted buzz of twilight, the shimmering colors of the sky get reflected in the silver-paned windows of the Marina Bay Sands.

And the smooth waters of the bay reflect the shimmering glow of both...

The Sun Sets In The West At Pandan Reservoir

Pandan Reservoir
West, Singapore
January 2013

To Merlion Wayfarer, Pandan Reservoir is the sister reservoir of Bedok Reservoir. (See "The Sun Sets In The East At Bedok Reservoir") Like Bedok, it has a jogging path around the entire elliptical shape of the reservoir. Like Bedok, the path is filled with gravel instead of smoothed with cement. And like Bedok, you can see an amazing sunset there. One in the East and one in the West. Truly of brother and sister capability!

Total isolation in the middle of a gravel path - No birds, no cars, no people!
Potholes can be found on a road leading to it - Truly ulu...

A floating platform with adjustable bits which can be detached...

Two huge pipes from the reservoir which pump potable water to the nearby West Coast industrial area...

The beautiful sunset in the West starts around 1800 hours with a slow change of the light to a yellowish tinge. The cool evening breeze shreds the puffy cumulus clouds into wispy thin strands...

These strands catch on the long rays of the spectrum and are transformed
into patches of pink, purple and orange as the sun itself turns golden...

Weekday Sunset By The Bay

Marina Bay
South, Singapore
March 2012

Merlion Wayfarer discovered that sunset on a weekday at Marina Bay Sands can be a peacefully relaxing and beautiful experience...

Sit by the steps to watch the sky slowly change colour from blue to hues of orange, pink and gold...

As twilight approaches, one by one, the buildings in the business district light up...

The Esplanade with its lighted rooftop spikes...

The Sun Sets In The East At Bedok Reservoir

Bedok Reservoir
East, Singapore
May 2008

Merlion Wayfarer was certainly surprised to discover that the sun sets beautifully in the East too...

She was at Bedok Reservoir when she first noticed a glaring glint off the shiny metallic surface of the aluminium bridge. The golden of the light was replicated by the still water below the bridge. A 180-degree turn and she saw the orange mass slowly sinking below the clearwater surface. Minutes later, the orange blob metamorphosed into a fiery pink salted duck egg as the last vestiges of light sank below the silhouetted horizon...
