DBS Marina Regatta 2014 - The Day It Rained

Marina Bay
South, Singapore
17-18 May 2014

It was a dawn with a sky full of clouds. In the late morning, the heavens opened up, and rain fell. And poured. And deluged.

The rain was so heavy that flash floods resulted. And traffic tailed back to Nicoll Highway.

At noon, there was no respite.

Splatters dotted paned windows...

Boats lay forlorn in the choppy waters, fast filling up with rainwater...

Photo props were covered to prevent water damage...

Let sleepy dragons lie -
Weary dragonboaters welcome the respite to the stifling warm weather over the past fortnight...

Oars unused...

As the tops of buildings nearby disappear in the low-lying clouds...

Is this really Singapore?

A little offering to the Rain God might help?

Yet there were those that chose to have fun in the rain...

Others were just strolling around or getting a quick bite at the scene...

Some took the chance for a team briefing...

It's life as usual for these cosplayers. A little rain will not dampen all the effort that they've taken...

And some that had to work...

There were always those that were thoughtful enough to make the path easier for others...

Any shot today would be worth tossing away the umbrella for...
