Cakes No Nice

New Zealand Natural

Today Merlion Wayfarer noticed a huge sign atop the ice-cream counter at New Zealand Natural : "1 for 1 on cakes after 9pm". Errrm, but she didn't want to get whole cakes. It was only after she went in and checked with the counter staff that she realized it applied to slices of cakes too.

She had a wide variety to order from - There was a Cookies and Cream Cheesecake and a New York Cheese Cake. The colour looked almost similar. The counter staff said that they were two different types. Only the deco on it differentiated the flavour.

A New York Cheese Cake and a Tiramisu were ordered. Wow, only S$5.50 for 2, with no GST and no service charge! The cakes, albeit smaller than in many other cafes, are splashed with some caramel. Nice touch...

In goes the first mouthful... Arghz, the cream on the Tiramisu was just excessively overwhelming. By the second mouthful, it became quite gelat.

The Cheese Cake fortunately turned out ok. Nothing great, a bit hard, but fairly edible.

Most of the staff were quite helpful and friendly, but as it neared closing time, they were very anxious to go home. So it was kinda a foodcourt feeling as the lady came over and cleared the plate without any notice. Worse still, she dumped the clean serviettes onto the half-eaten cake without asking. Merlion Wayfarer gaped - Alamak, the cakes no nice to eat lah, but also no need clear so fast mah...
