Merlion Wayfarer heard about Le Petit Paradis from her friends. Well, it was more like, she heard that there was a french stall in a kopitiam in the Marine Parade area. So she went a-hunting when she went on a walk in the area on one fine weekend. The first weekend, she didn't find it. It was only after a filling dinner that she saw the sign when she was crossing the traffic light. Awwww what a waste!
So the second weekend, she kept her stomach empty for a lunch at this stall. French food here we come!
A good start with some lemon tea while we await the French delicacies...
A yet-to-be-assembled Hamburger:
- The bread was lightly toasted and spread with some white butter.
- The fries had a sprinkling of spice and salt on it and were fragrant and crispy.
- A whole sheet of cheddar cheese is melted on top of the beef hamburger patty.
- The brown mushroom sauce is so deliciously addictive that there was a need for a second helping!
Duck Confit (S$14.50)
- The main ingredient of the dish - the duck was a bit tough and dry.
- When soaked in the light lemon butter sauce, together with the butter mashed potato, it was a good mix.
Even though about 80-90% of the patrons in the kopitiam ordered from the other stalls, e.g. noodles, chicken rice, Merlion Wayfarer waited a looooong time for her food, about 30 minutes. Service was also basic and no-frills. So this place is a good-to-eat location only if you have a lot more time to spare. Definitely not a place for a quick bite!
