Style Theory Launches First Offline Flagship Store
Style Theory, Southeast Asia’s largest online subscription-based designer fashion rental service, officially unveiled its first permanent retail store on 18 October 2019.
“We’ve been blown away by the impact Style Theory has had on shoppers in Singapore over the last three years, and we’re extremely excited to be launching our first permanent retail store as part of our goal to make sharing fashion the norm."
--- Raena Lim, co-founder of Style Theory ---
Riding on the success of their pop-up stores, the online fashion rental company’s new physical store located at 313@Somerset introduces the "see now, rent now" concept for new subscribers to walk away immediately with their first box of rented items.
“Having successfully launched various pop-up stores throughout the years, we recognise that a physical space allows customers to easily find their perfect fit and interact with a like-minded community, which encourages them to embrace the idea of renting and reduce wasteful purchasing as part of the shift towards sustainable living,"
--- Raena Lim ---
A wall filled with style influencers...
The new permanent store will help first-timers get even more out of their subscription, providing over 300 apparel pieces and 30 designer bags in a location where customers can see, touch, try and immediately rent products – including casual everyday pieces, formal business outfits or occasion and weekend wear, as well as classic, trendy, and seasonal bags.
It leads the way in making sustainable living more accessible by bringing the fashion rental experience to life in a physical space, encouraging more consumers to embrace renting and kick over-consumption habits.
“The textile production industry is the world's second-largest contributor to pollution after the oil industry today, with fast fashion leaving a negative impact on environmental waste. We are confident that Style Theory will be the future of fashion – one where people would feel that renting is equivalent, if not better, than buying as we make significant strides towards ending today’s buy-and-throw-away culture.”
--- Raena Lim ---
Upon stepping in, shoppers will be greeted by an immersive life-sized art installation – The Infinite Wardrobe – designed in collaboration with Laura Francois, a prominent social impact strategist and sustainability advocate. The three metres tall installation, created entirely with retired clothing from Style Theory, represents a future where the dream of having an infinite wardrobe turns into reality through sharing clothing that are made to last.
New subscribers can take advantage of complimentary 60-minute personal styling sessions (worth $250), where professionally-trained image consultants will share bespoke advice and recommendations based on body type and preference. The styling sessions are available by appointment during the store’s operating hours from 11am–10pm.
There are lots of motivational quotes dotted in eye-catching places throughout the store...
The Style Theory store also features a Build-Your-Own Welcome Kit section, where customers can pick out a curated selection of travel accessories, fashion items and other lifestyle items starting from November.
Additionally, subscribers get to be a part of a wider community and enjoy access to Style Theory’s curated series of exclusive member events on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Oishii! X JRunway - Showcase Of Fashion & Food
JRunway, Plaza Singapura
Central, Singapore
01 November 2013
In collaboration with Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture Forestry & Fisheries (MAFF), JRunway hosted an evening event : Oishii! X JRunway. Hosted by popular artiste, Shu An, this event showcased Japanese desserts and sake to members of the public.
Oishii! X JRunway combined two of the best aspects of Japanese Culture: Fashion and Food. The aim of this event was to introduce sake (rice wine) and sweets (the Japanese term for sweet products) to the Singapore public.
Japanese sake, known as Nihonshu, is made from fermented rice. The sake that was introduced at the event is Ozeki Hanaawaka which is awarded the best sake in the Wine Glass 2013, Sparkling Wine section. This sake contains 7% alcohol and its sweet, sour taste is suitable for most sake beginners.
The Matcha Castella made its first appearance in Singapore at the Oishii! X JRunway event. It is made in Tanitsune Seika, Hyogo prefecture, and is a soft, baked cake that contains egg, honey and ujimaccha powder.
There was also a Lucky Draw to add to the excitement. Prizes included a $100 JRunway shopping voucher, a FREE Cut and Color session at pact + LIM, a FREE Gelish Design session at Peony Nail Tokyo, a bottle of Sake for 5 winners and yokan (a thick jelly dessert made of red bean paste, agar and sugar) for 4 winners.
Oishii! X JRunway is one of the events held in conjunction with the “Celebrate Japanese Cuisine and Culture!” campaign. This campaign, from 04 October to 30 November 2013, aims to promote Japanese cuisine and culture in Singapore by bringing together a series of trade and consumer events.

October 2012
Merlion Wayfarer attended Uniqlo's launch of its Ultra Stretch Jeans at Ion Orchard yesterday.
Long queue at "Guest Registration" and zero queue at "Media Registration"...
Freeflow of wine, soft drinks and honey lemon and litte nibbles served on a Uniqlo platter, quite thorough planning. The showcase of jeans can be seen behind...
Showcase of Ultra Stretch Jeans with testimonials from women...
Usher management was not very good. Guests were not shown where to sit, and were chased from media seats. Later, Merlion Wayfarer noted that organizers simply let other guests occupy the media seats, including the front row ones. And members of the public were able to enter the stage area to occupy the other seats.
The electrifying opening performance - creates zest and energy!
MediaCorp artistes Joanne Peh and Rebecca Lim were there as ambassadors for Uniqlo. It was interesting to see the range of expressions on the two. One was perpetually sunny, while the other had a gamut of expressions ranging from bored (she was constantly chewing gum), to condescending (Is the model prettier than me?), to disbelief (She can actually bend so much?)...
Waylaid by persistent fans seeking non-stop photos and autographs, and always obliging with smiles...
Stunning display of strength and agility by the contortonist duo -
All performed while wearing Uniqlo's Ultra Stretch Jeans!

Merlion Wayfarer was amazed by how this lady could completely rotate her hips 360 degrees
while doing a handstand on one hand!
Interesting way to start the modelling showcase - Silhouettes of the ultra tall and ultra slim models. The items worn are from Uniqlo's autumn and winter collections, including flannels, overcoats, scarves. To showcase the stretchability of the jeans, the models sat and stepped on the blocks strategically placed along the runway...
Linda Black, the emcee (also in jeans!) interviewing the two artistes.
